New Work Permit for Quebec-Selected Workers on the Path to Permanent Residence

The Government of Canada announced today a temporary measure allowing certain skilled foreign workers in Quebec to obtain a 12-month employer-specific work permit without the obligation for the employer to secure an LMIA (Labor Market Impact Assessment) and a CAQ (Quebec Acceptance Certificate).

This measure applies to workers who have received an invitation from Quebec to submit a Demande de sélection permanente (DSP) (i.e. who’s profile have been drawn from the Arrima pool) and will allow them to continue working with their current employer while the province assesses their eligibility for a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ).
