Reminder: FY2027 H-1B Electronic Registration

As the USCIS rolls out new rules and guidance impacting the FY2027 H-1B Electronic Registration, BHLG LP is here to ensure that our clients are best prepared to participate in the selection process.

Please review the information below and provide us with the information and documents necessary to determine eligibility and complete registrations for individuals that you are considering for the FY 2027 registration.

The H-1B program allows organizations in the United States to temporarily employ foreign workers in specialty occupations that require the theoretical and practical application of a body of highly specialized knowledge and a bachelor’s degree or higher in the specific specialty, or its equivalent. The H-1B classification has an annual numerical limit (cap) of 65,000 new statuses/visas each fiscal year, as determined by Congress. An additional 20,000 H-1B numbers are allocated each fiscal year for beneficiaries who hold a U.S. master’s degree or higher. These beneficiaries are first considered in a separate selection for this allocation and, if not selected, are then included in the regular 65,000-visa cap selection.

Prospective employees must register for the cap lottery during the initial registration period. USCIS has not yet announced the period for FY 2027, but in prior years, the registration period was designated for a minimum of 14 calendar days in March. Only those with selected registrations will be eligible to file H-1B cap-subject petitions, beginning on April 01, 2026.

To allow ample time for the firm to review for eligibility based on recent USCIS guidelines, we ask that you review the list of information and documents below and provide us with the applicable items no later than February 02, 2026.
